With the heat advisory that starts today, it is important to know what resources are available to everyone. If you see someone not prepared for the heat and in need of help, please do not hesitate to call 911. During a heat advisory, there are many heat related illnesses that can happen, so be aware of your surroundings and understand the symptoms of them so you can be prepared. Remember, stay cool and hydrated. If you do not have access to these things, emergency shelters are open 24 hours a day in Boston for extreme heat.

For our Community Spotlight this month, we're honoring the Somerville Moms & Beyond! This grassroots fundraising group has supported Heading Home's mission to end and prevent homelessness for over a decade, and last Friday, they came together in person to participate in an Up & Out. Through an Amazon wish list campaign, moms across Eastern Massachusetts contributed - even those who couldn't make it to volunteer in person - to make sure this new mother moving out of shelter had everything she would need for the baby, including a stroller, changing table, diaper genie, booster seat, a crib, sleep sacks, and many, many diapers! Kim Jalet, organizer of the Somerville Moms group, stated this about the recent Up & Out, "The mom was really emotional as she walked around noticing all the little touches, and she expressed her deep gratitude for everyone who contributed. My favorite moment of the reveal was when I opened the toy box to show the little boy what was inside. He squealed with delight and immediately pulled out the cloth barn book and then the dinosaur play set." This group showed up for this mom in ways that only other moms could, and we're so thankful for their support! #CommunityImpact #momssupportingmoms #helpinghands #endinghomelessness
