Introducing the Heading Home Emeritus Board

Introducing the Heading Home Emeritus Board

Heading Home is pleased to announce the organization has recently launched its inaugural Emeritus Board, an honorary body that brings together respected leaders, advocates, and philanthropists whose commitment, influence, and support help advance the mission to end homelessness and expand affordable housing across Eastern Massachusetts. It reflects Heading Home’s belief that lasting solutions are built through enduring relationships, trusted leadership, and a shared commitment to community impact.

The newly assembled Board allows Heading Home to formally recognize individuals whose leadership and advocacy have helped shape the organization’s impact over many years. Members’ continued engagement, insight, and influence will help expand access to stable housing and move closer to a future where homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

Who Serves on the Emeritus Board
The Emeritus Board is composed of individuals who have demonstrated a long-standing dedication to Heading Home’s mission. Members include former board and committee members, longtime supporters, and public servants who have played pivotal roles as advocates for housing stability and homelessness prevention. Each brings a proven track record of leadership, service, and meaningful engagement with our work.

The Role of Emeritus Board Members
Emeritus Board members serve as valued ambassadors for Heading Home, strengthening the organization’s reach and impact in several important ways. Through their public association and leadership, members help enhance Heading Home’s credibility and visibility within the community. They play a key role in opening doors by connecting the organization with networks, partners, and opportunities that further its mission. Emeritus Board members also offer counsel, sharing insight and perspective on strategic opportunities and evolving community needs, and support Heading Home’s philanthropic efforts through a meaningful annual contribution and by helping to cultivate new supporters and champions.

Benefits of Emeritus Board Membership
Members of the Emeritus Board are recognized as civic leaders advancing real solutions to homelessness and housing instability. Benefits of participation include invitations to exclusive events and briefings, such as a special annual convening with Heading Home’s Board of Directors and periodic “Update from the CEO” meetings or conference calls. Emeritus Board members receive special acknowledgment at events and on the Heading Home website and are provided a meaningful platform to contribute to lasting social impact without the time commitment of a traditional board role.

Commitment and Term
Emeritus Board service is designed to be both flexible and impactful. The role is non-governing and carries no fiduciary responsibility, while still offering recognition across Heading Home’s website, publications, and event materials. Members are encouraged to participate in signature events and an annual Emeritus Board gathering and serve a renewable two-year term, allowing for continued engagement aligned with their availability and interests.

Advancing the Mission Together
The Heading Home Emeritus Board honors those who have helped shape our past while actively investing in our future. Through their advocacy, counsel, and generosity, Emeritus Board members play a vital role in advancing solutions that move individuals and families from homelessness to stability and help expand access to affordable housing throughout our region.
