Donating Goods and Services to Heading Home
Heading Home, relies on the support of the many people who give goods and services. Donating items from the list below will directly benefit the men, women, and children that we serve.

DONATION GUIDELINES:

While we appreciate your generosity, there are some guidelines that we do ask of our donors:
  • All items being donated must be either NEW or "GENTLY USED."  (This means all previously used items must be clean and in good condition) 
  • If you are donating furniture, please e-mail a picture to sgordon@headinghomeinc.org, so that we can assess whether or not this is an item we can use.
  • Heading Home does not have an in-house furniture pick up, so donations must be dropped off at our administrative offices in Cambridge or if you are unable to do so we must charge a $25 pick up fee.  This fee will help offset the cost to Heading Home to hire an outside service to pick up and deliver the furniture.  (NOTE: We require at least 2 weeks notice for pick up service)
  • Heading Home reserves the right ot decline donations if we are unable to schedule a pick up or do not have an immediate need.

TO MAKE A DONATION: Please call our office at 617-864-8140 between 9am - 5pm EST (Monday - Friday) to coordinate your donation drop off.  On the day of your drop off you will be provided with a donation acknowledgement for tax purposes.  Please see below for a complete list of our current needs and a list of items that we can not accept.

Heading Home’s Wish List:

• Cleaning supplies - brooms, mops, dustpans, paper towels, etc.
• Bedding - sheets, comforters, pillowcases, blankets, pillows (must be new), mattress pads, etc.
• Disposable diapers (all sizes)
• Baby wipes and Clorox wipes
• Plastic storage bins with lids attached (shoebox sizes and larger)
• Clothing - men, women, and children
• Coats - men, women, and children
• Toiletries - razors, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.
• Furniture - home furniture only
• Bathroom accessories - bath rugs, shower curtains & liners (new), hand towels, bath towels, etc.
• Kitchen items - towel holders, bakeware, cookware, dishware, silverware, drinking glasses, mugs, dish towels, pot holders, can openers, microwaves, toasters, etc.
• Holiday Gifts - Heading Home gladly accepts donations of new and unwrapped toys, books, and arts & crafts supplies.


Items we can not accept:

• Desks
• Office furniture
• Large furniture items such as hutches, buffets, pull-out couches (sleeper sofas), and futons
• Large appliances such as stoves, washing machines and dryers
• Exercise equipment
• Wheelchairs and walkers
• TVs (unless there is a specific need)

CAR DONATIONS:
If you are interested in donating a used car or vehicle, please visit www.cars4charities.org.  The proceeds from the sale of your car will benefit Heading Home, but you must make sure to please choose Heading Home as the recipient organization.

As always gift cards from stores such as Target and Walmart are greatly appreciated.
